Multiple User Editor Feature Focus

A significant goal of BSI is to empower you to work as efficiently and effectively as possible. Many of BSI’s upgrades help users accomplish what they used to accomplish, but doing it faster and with less stress. Such is the case with the new Multiple User Editor that is available in BSI 19.6.1 and later. The BSI Team liked it so much we nicknamed it the Multi-User Editor.

Local Administrators who manage user accounts now have the option of creating or editing accounts in a table format. The efficiency tools found in the editor tables (Mass Change, Change Values, Sort, Hide/Show Columns) can be applied in the Multi-User Editor, making it easy to add or edit multiple users quickly and efficiently. Some uses for the Multi-User Editor are to set-up a new lab or project,  clean-up user account data, add accounts for new collaborators or a third-party group, apply or harmonize user preferences for all users, migrate data, or to de-activate accounts as projects wind down.

Like the User Editor, the Multi-User Editor is located in the User Administration manager. Local Administrators can add multiple users at once by selecting the Add Multiple button. To edit multiple existing accounts at once, Local Admins can simply select multiple user accounts with the help of the Ctrl key and click the Edit button.  Then, the Multiple User Editor will open to edit existing users.

In the Multi-User Editor, adding options that appear on the Preferences, Search, Quick Search and Location Search tabs of the User Editor requires using a User Configuration Template. Those templates can be created by using the submanager on the left side of the User Administration manager or by saving an existing user’s preferences as a template. When using Configuration Templates, you may select an existing template or create a new one that can be applied in either the User Editor (General Tab) or Multiple User Editor .

Other uses for the Multi-User Editor are setting up mass change of addresses if your workgroup moves, applying User Preferences to workgroups that will streamline their BSI searches, using Mass Change/Append to add a new repository to multiple users, or to print labels with user information. However you use the Multiple User Editor, it will save you time if you have a need to add or edit more than one user at a time.
